Dr. Bozdogan’s career includes time spent with Yale University School of Medicine, UMDNJ New Jersey Medical School, Lenox Hill Hospital, and Hackensack University Medical Center. His career has included two residencies, an internship, and a postdoctoral research fellowship. He has also served as Administrative Chief Resident in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UMDNJ.
A Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Bozdogan currently serves as an attending physician at Lenox Hill Hospital and Hackensack University Medical Center. He’s also active as a proctor for da Vinci Robotic Surgery, training other doctors in the use of that highly innovative, industry-leading technology. Dr. Bozdogan earned his medical degree at the Istanbul University School of Medicine, followed by a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School where he served as chief resident. A fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Bozdogan has advanced training in gynecologic and pelvic reconstruction, with a special interest in robot-assisted surgery. A member of the Minimally Invasive Robotic Association and the American Association of Gynecology Laparoscopists, Dr. Bozdogan also acts as proctor for da Vinci Robotic Surgery, training other doctors in the innovative technique and technology at the Hackensack University Medical Center.
Dr. Bozdogan has received high-level training and has done special studies in robot-assisted surgery. He has performed dozens, even hundreds, of procedures using this advanced technology. His extensive surgical experience includes a wide range of gynecologic and pelvic procedures.
When he performs robotic-assisted surgery, Dr. Bozdogan uses the da Vinci robotic surgical system, which was approved by the Food and Drug Administration in 2000 and has been used on millions of patients ever since. This system is considered the “gold standard” in robotic surgery.
The da Vinci system provides a magnified three-dimensional HD view inside the patient’s body. It also allows the surgeon’s hand movements to be translated into very small, very precise movements using tiny surgical instruments, which adds an unmatched level of accuracy. The surgeon is able to see exactly what needs to be done and execute each surgical step in an extremely precise way.
